Creative Allies

Program Overview

The Creative Allies program, a partnership between Milwaukee Recreation and the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), supports after-school sites within Milwaukee Public Schools by providing additional arts opportunities, especially in schools with limited art and music programs.

Through this program, MIAD's advanced art and design students, as well as recent graduates, as well as students from UW-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts, have the opportunity to serve as art educators and share their creative expertise with MPS students. MIAD and UWM students or graduates selected for the program are paired with an after-school site and are tasked with collaborating with site staff to create an arts program that aligns with site-specific needs and student interests, strongly emphasizing youth voice.
