About Safe Places

In partnership with local youth-serving and neighborhood agencies, Safe Places offer educational, recreational, and social enrichment activities for youth at MPS elementary, K-8, and high school locations.

Under the direction of trained staff from agency partners, Safe Places provide youth with opportunities to engage in educational and social enrichment activities, and play in safe environments. Safe Places also support families by providing opportunities for parent involvement in various activities and social events.

Milwaukee Recreation operates dozens of 21st CCLCs and Safe Places alongside other local youth-serving agencies, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, COA Youth and Family Centers, the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, the Milwaukee Christian Center, Neu-Life Community Development, Journey House, America SCORES, and Neighborhood House.

Registration

To register your child for a Safe Place program, call the Safe Place site coordinator at the school location for more information. A blank copy of the Safe Place Youth Participant Registration Form is available below to download and print out. Registration forms must be submitted on site at the Safe Place school location. Additional forms may be required to be submitted as part of the registration process.

A nominal program fee is charged.

Most Safe Place programs accept Wisconsin Shares childcare subsidies. Please contact the Safe Place site coordinator at the school location for more information.
