Summer Playgrounds

Milwaukee Recreation will provide enrichment activities, play opportunities, and free meals at playground sites across the city beginning June 20, 2024 (for kids ages 6-17). Due to federal regulations, all provided meals are served seated and must be consumed by youth at the playground.

All playgrounds are operated as a “free drop-in” program. Though locations are staffed and provide many enriching games and activities for youth, general supervision is only provided for youth who choose to stay on site. The playgrounds program is not a substitute for child care or similar attendance/registration-driven programs.

Please see the list below for playground locations and hours, as well as additional program opportunities that will be available at each site. We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Summer 2024 Information

• Start Date: June 20 - Aug. 16

• Ages 6-17

• Daily Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

• Twice-Daily Free Meals at Most Locations (meal times to be shared at later date)

• Water Play Opportunities

• Traveling Adventures Field Trips

• Roving Playground Activities

UPDATE

Friday, Aug. 16 is the final day for the summer playgrounds program, including free meals. However, several sites will remain open past Aug. 16. Free meals will also be extended at those sites that were already offering meal service. See below for more information.

• Wading pool service at Burbank Playfield, Enderis Playfield, Holt Playfield, Merrill Playfield, and Ohio Playfield will be extended through Saturday, Aug. 24.
• Playground service at Burnham Playfield will be extended through Friday, Aug. 23.
• Playground service at Franklin Square Playfield will be extended through Friday, Aug. 30.
