Child Care on Select Professional Development Days

Child Care on Select Professional Development Days

Our Doors Are Open

Throughout the 2025-26 school year, Milwaukee Public Schools has added several half-day and full-day professional development sessions for school staff.

  • Oct. 8, Dec. 10, March 4, and April 15 are now early release days; the school day will end two hours earlier than scheduled (half-day students will be dismissed at their regular dismissal time).
  • Nov. 24, Nov. 25, and April 30 have been added as full-day professional development days; students will not attend school on these days. (The complete schedule of professional development days and record days can be viewed on the MPS website.)

To assist MPS families with child care and enrichment on these days, MPS and Milwaukee Recreation are offering extended support at four hub locations throughout the city of Milwaukee. Additional Camps, 21st CCLCs, and Safe Places will also be open. Nutritious meals and snacks will be provided.

Please note: Milwaukee Recreation is only offering additional child care services on these new professional development days - Nov. 24, Nov. 25, and April 30 (full days) and Oct. 8, Dec. 10, March 4, and April 15 (early release days). Child care is not available on professional development days that were already on the MPS calendar prior to this school year.

Hub Locations

Please check with your school's Camp, 21st CCLC, or Safe Place to learn if your child's program will be operating on the district's professional development days. If your school's program is not open for those dates, please join us at the hub locations listed below.

Submission of this registration form does not guarantee placement. You will receive a confirmation email once your child’s spot has been reserved, along with additional details regarding the site you selected. Enrollment is subject to availability, program capacity, and compliance with all program policies and requirements.
