Run Back to School: Virtual ChallengeThis year, the MPS Run Back to School is going VIRTUAL!

We are excited to launch a new take on this classic event to celebrate the start of the school year, in a safe and fun way. The MPS Run Back to School: Virtual Challenge serves to raise funds to support MPS youth recreation and wellness programs across the district.

Virtual Challenge Details

The Run Back to School: Virtual Challenge will run from Aug. 3-27.

Registered individuals complete at least four fitness activities during the dates of the challenge, equivalent to 120 minutes (about 30 minutes per week). Any fitness activity counts in this challenge! For example: walking, biking, running, fitness classes, yoga, hiking, jump rope, and more.

Join our Run Back to School: Virtual Challenge Facebook group to learn about fun weekly challenges to earn extra swag items or get ideas from other participants about ways to stay active. Participants are encouraged to share how they are being active! After you complete your event registration, look out for an email invitation to our Run Back to School: Virtual Challenge Facebook Group!

Join us on Aug. 27 from 3-7 p.m. at the Wick Field parking lot (4929 W. Vliet St.) for a Run Back to School: Virtual Challenge drive-thru celebration, where participants can pick up their event bag and be greeted by the Run Back to School cheer team!

Cost is $5 for children and $10 for adults (cost includes event t-shirt & swag item).

SCHOOLS: Rally your team and apply for grant money!

When schools have at least 25 people registered, they qualify for a $500 mini grant towards a recreation and/or wellness need at their school! The school with the most registered participants in the MPS Run Back to School: Virtual Challenge will earn a $1,000 mini grant towards their recreation/wellness programs.

In the past, schools have used the grant for sports registration fees, new gym & sports equipment, new uniforms, and more!

Nominate a team captain for your school and start your team today! (To sign up for a team, make sure you specify your school during the registration process after you add the race to your cart.)
