Special Events

Milwaukee Recreation hosts a number of exciting, special events throughout the year for all ages. While some events occur only once (be sure to also check the news section), many events are planned on an annual basis. Events which occur from year to year are consistently improved to attract more participation and increase customer satisfaction. Oftentimes the events may include community partners. Halloween Glen

This humorous and educational outdoor adventure is a great alternative to usual Halloween events. Actors will present interactive skits along the luminaria-lighted trails of Hawthorn Glen, Milwaukee Recreation’s 23-acre nature center.

Family Drive-In Movie Day

Families are invited to join us for a day of physically distanced fun at this one-day drive-in movie experience.

Twilight and Treat

Join us at one of three Twilight Centers for trick or treating, games and activities, and arts and crafts! Fun for the entire family!

Kick or Treat Kickball Tournament

We offer a Halloween-themed kickball tournament in the fall. Costumes are encouraged! The tournament is coed.

Mother & Son Superhero Night

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Mother & Son Super Hero Night! Come dressed as your favorite hero and join us for an evening of games, crafts, and snacks.

Winter Wonder Woods

Celebrate winter in style with Milwaukee Recreation's Winter Wonder Woods! See Hawthorn Glen in a new light as you stroll a quarter-mile of our trails twinkling with holiday cheer.

Yoga Fest

If you spell yoga backwards it’s "ago y " - as in, you worked out years ago, why has it been so long? It’s time to stop looking backwards and start looking forward!

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Enjoy a night out with that special little girl in your life. Join us for a fun-filled evening of dancing, food, and prizes. Our live DJ will play the best dance hits from every era, and you won’t want to miss our annual tradition: the Cupid Shuffle!

Run Back to School

The Run Back to School 5K race and 1.5-mile walk is the perfect way to kick off the school year for students, teachers, administrators, public officials, and community members!

Once your submission is reviewed, someone will contact you to accept or decline your request. Please note: This form should not be used to make requests for the Skate Van or the Rec.
