You and your family can have fun in the snow this winter with Milwaukee Recreation, whether you are snowshoeing our trails, gliding through nature on cross country skis, or turning the snow into your own work of art.

Limited Spots Remain
- Where: Oak Ridge Farm (Dousman, Wis.)
- Date: Saturday, Jan. 29
- Time: 12-2 p.m.
- Who: Ages 9 and up
- Cost: $6 for residents/$9 for non-residents
Snowshoeing offers a great cardiovascular workout for people of every age and fitness level, and it gives you instant access to the forest and the peace provided by nature. It's a low-impact sport, much simpler and safer than skiing. It's an activity kids, adults, and even seniors can do. If you can walk, you can snowshoe!
Cross Country Ski Rentals
- Where: Hawthorn Glen
- Dates: Jan. 2 - Feb. 27
- Times: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Who: Ages 6 and up
- Cost: $5 for residents/$8 for non-residents
When snow conditions permit this season, come to Hawthorn Glen to rent our cross country skis! You can hit the trails and experience a new side of winter in Milwaukee.
Boots, skis, and poles are provided. A Wisconsin state I.D. or driver’s license must be used as a deposit. No reservations taken, just show up. Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis. Hawthorn Glen will determine snow conditions at the facility; please call 414-777-7888 for more information. Online registration is not available; simply show up and have fun!
Toboggan Rentals

- Dates: Jan. 1 - Feb. 26
- Times: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Who: Ages 3 and up
- Cost: $3 for residents/$3 for non-residents
Are you looking for fun way to enjoy the outdoors with your family? Rent one of our toboggans and slide down our kid friendly berm. A Wisconsin Driver’s license must be used as a deposit. No reservations taken, just show up! Our limited equipment will be rented on a first come, first served basis. Hawthorn Glen will determine snow conditions so calling ahead of time is recommended (414-777-7888).

- Who: Ages 4 and up
- Cost: $2 for residents/$2 for non-residents
Are you looking for an activity to do with the kids on their day off school? Hawthorn Glen is the place to be! Kids can enjoy making their own colorful art creations in the snow. We will provide the paint and supplies, and mother nature will hopefully provide the large outdoor canvas.
