Superintendent of Schools supports students in Milwaukee Recreation's youth sports leagues

On Saturday, Nov. 6, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Keith Posley visited Milwaukee Recreation's youth sports sites to cheer on teams participating in fall leagues. His first stop was Bradley Tech High School to watch the girls basketball teams from Wedgewood and Lincoln Center of the Arts square off on the court. Afterwards, Dr. Posley headed outside to Tech's multi-purpose field to support the Humboldt Park and Bay View Montessori flag football teams. From there, Dr. Posley was off to Audubon Middle/High School for the volleyball match between Lowell and Milwaukee Spanish Immersion. While there, he also made a visit to the Project Lead The Way’s Automation and Robotics professional development training being held for MPS staff.

"It is wonderful to see our young people back on the fields and courts and to see so many of our parents and families in person to cheer them on," said Posley. Due to COVID-19, Milwaukee Recreation did not host youth sports leagues during the 2020-21 school year. This fall, Milwaukee Recreation offered cross country, flag football, girls basketball, volleyball, and soccer for elementary and middle school youth. A total of 67 middle school and 78 elementary school teams participated.

"I encourage all of our students to get involved in extracurricular activities," said Superintendent Posley. Winter youth sports include boys & coed basketball, cheerleading, indoor soccer, and volleyball. Complete information can be found here.
