Modrzejewski Playfield

Project Description

Modrzejewski Playfield will be renovated to create recreation space that supports the neighborhood. Milwaukee Recreation completed in-person community engagement sessions and online surveys throughout 2021.

This project involves a full-scale renovation of the playfield, and will feature upgraded playground equipment, a splash pad, basketball courts, shade structures, a multi-purpose field, and a walking path. New and upgraded site amenities will be added, including lighting, benches, and trash receptacles. The fieldhouse will also be renovated, including updated restrooms, windows, and doors, as well as improvements to the gathering room and building facade.

Playfield renovations will begin in 2024 with completion in summer 2025. The entire playfield will be closed during renovations, including access to the restrooms and water fountains. All adjacent roads will remain open during construction.

In addition to the initial round of renovations to Modrzejewski Playfield, the far north end of the playfield will be renovated as part of the KK River Corridor Project in the future. This will include views of the river and connections to the proposed KK River Trail.
