Project Description

This summer, Milwaukee Recreation will celebrate the completed renovation of Modrzejewski Playfield! The public is invited to join local leaders and Milwaukee Recreation staff on site for this special community event on Tuesday, July 8 at 11 a.m.

Like each of Milwaukee Recreation's previous playfield renovations, community feedback was essential to this project, helping to guide the design process and create a sense of ownership for the surrounding neighborhood. Thanks to your input - gathered through on-site events and online surveys - the new design reflects the needs and ideas of the people who use it most.

Here is what's new at Modrzejewski Playfield:

Modern playground equipment
Splash pad
Painted play spaces
New basketball courts
Comfortable plaza seating
New walking paths
Multi-purpose field
Improved lighting
Shade structures
Updated fieldhouse
Renovated restrooms
Remodeled community room

Playfield renovations began in 2024. The entire playfield will be closed during renovations, including access to the restrooms and water fountains. All adjacent roads will remain open during construction.

In addition to the initial round of renovations to Modrzejewski Playfield, the far north end of the playfield will be renovated as part of the KK River Corridor Project in the future. This will include views of the river and connections to the proposed KK River Trail.
