Milwaukee Recreation has introduced over 20 new classes for youth, teens, adults, seniors, and families during the upcoming spring programming session. See our full list of programs here in our 2020 Spring Recreation Guide. Online registration for classes begins on Monday, March 2 for city of Milwaukee residents. Registration for non-residents begins the following week on Monday, March 9. Sign up online when you are eligible to register.
Here is a preview of a few of our brand new classes, programs, and workshops. Click the available links for more information on class dates, times, and locations.
Ages: 9-13 years old

Celebrate Mother's Day with a special meal for Mom! It's time for you to do the cooking, and we'll even teach you how to do it with as little mess as possible. Learn how to make classic breakfast items to start your mom off to a wonderful day. You'll also learn how to make a little surprise item created with love.
Ages: 5-12 years old

Learn the science behind illusions, read minds, and perform a Houdini-style escape! Amaze and amuse friends and family. It's not magic - it's science!
Ages: 7 and up
Location: MacDowell Community Center
This class is designed for cricketers looking to train and play competitively. Refining your batting, bowling, and fielding skills and exploring various positions to be ready for competitive cricket.
Ages: Adults
Location: Gaenslen Community Center
Doubleweave is the weaving of two layers of cloth on the loom simultaneously, one above the other. These layers may be completely independent of each other or may be connected on one or both selvedges or in between. In this class we will explore weaving double layers, double width, tubular weave, and double weave pick-up.

Grab your aprons! The fresh spring rolls are easy and fun to make, and you'll love the Ginger Soy and Peanut Dipping Sauces that go with them. The Thai Tam Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) has a unique aromatic bouquet of herbs and spices that sets it apart. Perky Peanut Noodles can be made hot or cold, delightful either way. Chinese Chicken Salad is a recipe you can make year round that will wow your friends and family.

Spring is here! There are lots of great healthy fruits and vegetables available at the local farmers market. This is a great way to use those great fresh food items. We will be making four salads: Couscous Salad, Creamy Cucumber Salad, Spring Greens Salad, Sugar Snap Peas Salad, and a Spring Dessert.
