Celebrate the start of the 2024-25 academic year with Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation at the 17th annual MPS Run Back to School!
This 5K race and 1.5-mile walk is the perfect way for students, teachers, administrators, public officials, and community members to kick off the school year. Proceeds support youth sports, wellness, and recreation programs across the district.
Through the MPS Run Back to School, school communities with at least 25 registered participants are eligible for a $500 grant to support a sport or wellness need in their school. The school with the most registered participants is eligible for a $1,000 grant to support a sport, recreation, or wellness need in their school. This year, 14 schools hit the 25-participant mark, including Fernwood Montessori School, Bay View Montessori School, Golda Meir School, Highland Community School, MacDowell Montessori School, Humboldt Park School, Riverside University High School, German Immersion School, Parkside School, Rogers Street Academy, Carver Academy, South Division High School, Allen-Field School, and Doerfler School!
