Celebrate Earth Day by making a positive impact in your community!

The Hawthorn Glen Outdoor Education Center is a 25-acre outdoor space of woodland, prairie, and fen, and home to many native animals and plants. Operated by Milwaukee Recreation, thousands of children attend the site each year with their schools and families.

Help us clean up Hawthorn Glen so we can jump into spring and be ready for visitors (one hour of volunteer time is encouraged). An annual event each April, the clean-up attracts over 100 enthusiastic volunteers each year to help us put litter and nature back in place. Whether you are an individual, a family, a scout troop, a civic organization, or a group of friends, your help is appreciated.

  • When: Saturday, April 22
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Where: Hawthorn Glen (1130 N. 60th St.)
