This high school basketball event has a great local appeal, a strong regional flavor with teams from Chicago participating and a potential national spot-light game with Oak Hill playing Whitney Young in the night cap. Oak Hill has four potential top 25 Division-1 players and Whitney Young has 4 Division-1 prospects as well, including Michael Jordan’s youngest son Marcus Jordan.

1200 pm – Homestead vs. Milwaukee South Division
130 pm – Whitefish Bay Dominican vs. Whitnall

Session 2
530 pm – Milwaukee Custer vs. Oak Lawn Richards
700 pm – Milwaukee Rufus King vs. Chicago Marshall
830 pm – Oak Hill vs. Whitney Young

All proceeds from the Converse/Eastbay College Scholarship Classic will go to the JG-Scholarship Fund – a non-profit college scholarship fund

.- The JG-Scholarship Fund is the event title holder of the Converse/Eastbay College Scholarship Classic. All proceeds from the day’s events on December 13, 2008 will benefit deserving and qualified Milwaukee area youth who want to further their education beyond High School, but do not have the necessary resources. We want to allow those that have the ability to reach and capture their dream of higher education

- Students will be able to apply for scholarship awards between January 1, 2009 & April 1, 2009. An application form will be available on December 1, 2008.

The Criteria for the award will be based on four elements:

- Academics
o Student will need to have shown proficient cumulative grade point average (4 years) & college entrance exam scores.

- Extra-curricular
o Involvement – not necessarily just athletics but other activities as well – band, drama, student council, etc.

- Community Involvement

- A formal interview process with the JG Scholarship Fund Board of Directors

Converse & Eastbay are strictly sponsors of this event. Underwriting of this event will be executed and fulfilled by Milwaukee Rufus King and the non-profit JG-Scholarship Fund (event title holder) as hosts of the event via Milwaukee Public Schools the governing body of the City Conference of Milwaukee of which Milwaukee Rufus King is a member.
